Biography
Bethany Hancock born in Lincolnshire in 1993, is a photographer and student now based in Manchester. She is currently studying her BA in Photography in Manchester and specialises in surrealism. She looks into the psychology behind her projects and from these theories creates surreal imagery to tell the story. She is highly influenced by psychological theories by Freud as well as imagery by Man Ray and Rosie Hardy.
She has collaborated with other photographers to raise money for The Children’s Liver Disease Foundation; this consisted of a pop up studio in a community centre with all the money going to charity. Bethany also photographs weddings and family portraits. She has recently created a beginners photography workshop for people with no or little experience with the subject. In the future she hopes to study for her PGCE so she can teach photography.
She has exhibited as part of the Togædere Collective for the Decipher Exhibition (2012) and also The Umbrella Exhibition (2013).
